“Africa Concentrated – the treasure of ROOIBOS”

Afriplex®GRT is an API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) developed in partnership with the Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform at the South African Medical Research Council. The focal point of developing Afriplex®GRT, a green ROOIBOS extract, was the potential health benefit for people managing the symptoms and effects of metabolic syndrome, diabetes, cholesterol and obesity.

During the research phase significant focus was placed on developing a process where the naturally occurring flavonoid compounds found in ROOIBOS (Aspalathus linearis) were not compromised and to ensure optimised concentrations of the relevant functional components in the end product. This unique product is standardized on Asphalathin active, the dihydrochalcones C-glucoside flavonoid of the unfermented ROOIBOS plant.
